When Stoop_Master's 'pot-holing' little brother expressed an interest in doing a little
draining, at the same time as I happened upon a possible upstream entrance to
The Cage,
it seemed rude not to oblige. Things got off to a promising start with the concrete pipe
quickly becoming a circular brick pipe, if a little small. Then it rapidly went
down hill. After an utterly clogged up, mud caked 20 yd run, we reached a tiny chamber
which we barely all crammed into. A stupidly small pipe ran out from here and it became
apparent that this was infact not an upstream entrance to The Cage drain. We were about
ready to turn back when Stoop's little brother says, 'You could fit down that'. Rightly
so you could, but in a pipe so small it restricts your movement to the degree that your
shoulders are jammed against the sides. When you can't turn round, infact your only capable
of moving very slowly backwards and forwards, coupled with there being three of you in there!
It gets interesting. We persisted with the miniscule pipe for a while, then called it a day.
